THE STORM:

-- Hurricane Katrina hit Aug. 29th, 2005.

-- It was the worst natural disaster in U.S. history.

-- The storm devastated 90,000 square miles of land.

-- At its peak, the storm was roughly the size of Great Britain.

-- Close to 1,600 died in Louisiana as a result of the hurricane.

-- More than 270,000 were forced into shelters.

-- Emergency decrees were enacted in 42 states and the District of Columbia.
