2006 BOSTON -- Jeff Larson is the general manager for SmartRoute Systems, where he has worked since 1991.Among his responsibilities is his role as traffic reporter for WCVB. He was assigned broadcast duties in 1992 as a backup reporter, becoming the primary reporter for the EyeOpener in 1993. In addition to his broadcast duties, Jeff oversees the Boston SmarTraveler Operations Center as well as other similar projects around the country.In 1996 Jeff received the AIR Award for Boston's Best Traffic Reporter, an award he shared with Cindy Campbell.In addition to his responsibilities with WCVB, Jeff has reported traffic on Oldies 103, WBZ radio as well as many other Boston stations. Prior to taking on the traffic world, Jeff provided weather reports to stations throughout New England at the New England Weather Bureau.In his early career, Jeff was a disc jockey, sports play-by-play announcer and talk show producer at stations in Western Massachusetts (WNAW), N.H. (WKNE), Denver, Colo.,(KNUS, KBPI) and Lansing, Mich.Jeff studied communications and political science at the University of Denver after graduating in 1981 from Newton Catholic High School in Newton, Mass.Jeff is an avid runner and triathlete. He has completed every Boston Marathon since 2001, all of them raising funds for his favorite charity, Boston's Children’s Hospital.Jeff's father is the well-known Boston sports announcer Tom Larson, who worked for years at WSBK-TV as well as the New England Sports Network until his retirement in 2005.Jeff resides in Arlington and is the extremely proud father of his son, Gabriel.
