Gadget lovers planning to shell out several hundred dollars for Apple's new iPhone this week now know how much it will cost them each month to use the device.

AT&T and Apple today Monday that wireless service for the iPhone will range from about $60 to $100 per month.

Customers can choose from three plans, all of which include unlimited data, visual voicemail, 200 text messages, roll-over minutes and unlimited mobile-to-mobile calling, the companies said. The differences between the three plans are in voice minutes.

There is also a $36 activation fee.

The visual voicemail system puts messages into a graphical interface, somewhat like e-mail.

The highly anticipated gadget retails for just under $500 for a model with 4 gigabytes of storage and nearly $600 for one with 8 gigabytes.

It's slated to go on sale Friday at Apple and retail stores of AT&T.

The iPhone combines the functions of a cell phone, iPod media player and Web-surfing device.

The companies also announced in a press release that iPhone buyers will be able to choose a service plan and set up and activate their phones through the iTunes desktop application, rather than waiting at a store.

iPhone, besides being Apple's first mobile phone, is known for an innovative interface. It has only one button, and all other input is done using fingers on a screen.

The device goes on sale at 6 p.m. Friday in each time zone. Reports online say that some people have already started lining up at Apple's New York store.
