Are you one of those gadget enthusiasts that just have to have, explore and use the latest toy out there in the world of technology?

If so, then you may want to learn about a hot new trend in fitness -- online trainer downloadable programs! It's "In your ear training!" If I've peaked your interest, read on.

Web sites like www.podfitness.com and www.progio.com give you a complete fitness package. You are able to choose a trainer (female or male), type of workout (cardio, strength, flexibility, core, fat burner, etc.) and your favorite type of music (rock, jazz, disco, oldies, etc.).

All of this information gets downloaded into your own iPod and voila, you have a workout designed for you that you can use whenever you like and wherever you go. Of course there are benefits as well as drawbacks to this type of fitness package.

The benefits:

  • For a minimal investment you have your own “personal trainer.”
  • You can design your workout to meet your changing needs and interests.
  • The options keep you from getting bored or “stuck” in the same routine.
  • Nationally and internationally known trainers are involved in these ventures.
  • The drawbacks:

  • You must be disciplined to be sure you do your workouts on a regular basis.
  • Since your trainer or instructor isn’t with you in person, there isn’t anyone to watch you to make sure you are doing things correctly, so you need to be careful, use proper form and pay attention to how your body feels while exercising.
  • And of course, you have to be a “techy” type of person.
  • If this does not appeal to you, remember, real life "in your face training" is still the most popular way to train, and for you may be the most effective of all!
