Spanish Subtitles On WCVB

How To Control On Your Set

Spanish Subtitling (CC2)

We at WCVB offer Spanish subtitling as a service to our viewers during our newscasts. It is sent on our signal in the same way as English closed captioning and its selection is a function on your TV set: English on CC1 (closed caption 1) and Spanish on CC2 (closed caption 2).

WCVB cannot turn this on or off or select which captioning to display. It can only be done by you, the viewer.

On some sets, the solution is a single button on your remote control (i.e. "CC" or "CC1/CC2"). On others, the function may be accessed through menus. To determine the correct way to select or deselect CC2 for your TV set, please refer to your set's operating manual.

Spanish Audio (SAP)

ABC simulcasts in Spanish some of their shows on the "Secondary Audio Program" (SAP) as a service to their Spanish speaking viewers.

Selection of the SAP audio, however, is a function of your TV set.

WCVB cannot turn this on or off on your set.

This can only be done by you, the viewer. In most cases this selection can be made with a single button on your remote control (i.e. "SAP" or "MTS").

In a few cases, you may have to get into the menu in order to deselect the SAP audio.

To determine the correct way for your TV set, please refer to its operating manual.
