Building A More Stable You
Have you gotten on the ball yet -- the stability ball, that is?The stability ball is a large (usually 55 cm to 65 cm) resilient ball used for exercise. Developed for physical therapy as early as 1905, these balls are now also used for private and group fitness as well as home workouts. At first glance, and first sit, you will either experience sheer terror (oh my gosh it’s round, it’s unstable and it moves!) or absolute delight (wow, I feel like a kid again – just bouncing up and down!)So why are stability balls the big rage? One answer is the CORE -- and the CORE is also the big rage -- (six pack abs, flat tummy etc)! In order to perform most exercises on the ball, your core (abs, back, pelvis, hips) has to work to stabilize you, so you get a bonus. Two (or more) for one!If you haven't used a stability ball yet there are many videos, books and brands to choose from. Check out www.spriproducts.com, or your local sporting goods store, and then go for it and get on the BALL!
