Five Positions Available For Economically, Socially Disadvantaged College Students

POSTED: 10:59 am EST March 25, 2005
UPDATED: 11:05 am EST January 17, 2007

WCVB-TV is pleased to announce that five paid internships will be awarded to college students who are disadvantaged by economic or social conditions. The internships are for a period of twelve weeks from June 1 to Aug. 31, 2007.

Applicants are required to:

  • Have completed freshman year
  • Major in some field of broadcasting and/or business
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Complete the application
  • Interns will be paid at the current minimum wage rate to serve as a stipend and to assist with transportation and meal costs.

While a WCVB-TV internship is not an apprenticeship, it is an opportunity for the student to obtain an overview of the television-broadcasting field in news, programming, public affairs, sales or marketing or accounting.

The basic purpose of the program is to provide an opportunity for economically or disadvantaged students to gain practical experience in the broadcasting industry. WCVB-TV is a union shop and, therefore, interns will not have the opportunity to operate technical equipment.

Students interested in an internship should call the WCVB-TV Human Resources Department at (781) 433-4061 to request an application form. Completed application forms should be returned no later than April 30 to:
