BOSTON -- The Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless will unveil its mini golf course entitled There's No Place Like Home at Fanueil Hall Marketplace in Boston Friday, Aug. 6, through Sunday, Aug. 8.Area artist Jason Cruz captures the magic of the Wizard of Oz to create a whimsical yet challenging nine-hole mini golf course."We wanted to create a fun family event to raise critical funds for the homeless while drawing attention to the issues surrounding homelessness in the Commonwealth," said Robyn Frost, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless.Your generous donation will assist the Coalition in its mission to help homeless families. All proceeds from the event go to assist the Coalition’s Furniture Bank to assure that recently housed, extremely low-income families and individuals, have cost-free furniture and household items to help build their new homes and lives.The course will be open Friday, Aug. 6 and Saturday, Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 8 from noon to 6 p.m. Event sponsors include: FleetBank, Community Newspaper Company, Radio Disney and WCVB-TV. For more information, call (781) 595-7570 ext. 12.The Coalition's Furniture Bank is a unique program that collects furniture and household goods from corporations, hotels, colleges and private households and distributes then to formerly homeless families who have finally found housing.Last year, the Furniture Bank collected and distributed $3.5 million worth of items to over 3,500 households moving into housing.
