The following are some recommended varieties of roses:

Ace of Hearts A good show rose. Deep Red, non fading and fragrant. By Kordes 1981.

Betty Prior is a floribunda. It grow about 5 to 6 feet tall, color is pink with lighter pink reverse, no fragrance, strong grower. You will see it used a lot around parking lots, commercial buildings, but it is also great in the yard by itself.

Belle Isis This light pink old Gallica rose has a strong myrrh fragrance. It is very easy to grow. A beautiful clean looking bush. One of its offspring is the beautiful Austin's rose "Constance Spry". Bred by Parmentier in Belgium 1845. This rose does not repeat.

Blaze introduced in 1932 by Kallay patent #10 is a climber with semi-double red blossoms, very floriferous. Disease resistant, winter hardy. Left unattended this rose keeps on blooming.

Carefree delight is a pink blend shrub and is covered in blooms all season. It grows up to 6 plus feet tall and spreads to about 5 feet wide.single bloom. Great rose.

Dortmund is a Kordesii climber. The color is bright red with a beautiful white eye in the center, fragrant, single 5 petals, blooms large clusters mid-season and good repeat until frost. Easy to grow.

Electron HT Beautiful Pink bloom. Compact, vigorous bushy plants. Dark green foliage. Tea-form five inch flowers. Very fragrant. By McGredy 1970. He also has "Sexy Rexy" (floribunda) to his credit from 1984.

Euphrosyne (Pink Rambler) This medium Pink rambler likes a shady spot, train up a trellis to 10-12' tall and 8' wide. It has a strong tea fragrance. It needs three years to mature, prune the pale green foliage very lightly. This was a favorite rose of Gertrude Jekyll in her garden designs. Bred by Schmitt in France 1895.

Folklore HT Large vigorous grower. Soft pink or orange above with yellow-orange reverse. Plants five to eight feet tall. Fragrant and very winter hardy. I do have this one. What a beauty.

Fred Loads it is listed as a climber. Blooms are semi-double bright red-orange. It blooms from spring to fall. Little or no fragrance. It grows in my yard 6-8 feet tall. It gets leggy after about four years, so plan on planting a ground-cover in front of it.

Golden Showers introduced in 1956 by Lammerts, is a yellow climber. It has double 20-30 petals. It is disease resistant and winter hardy. This plant is slow to start. It takes about four years to mature to its 8 feet and can get to about 6 feet wide in the north. My bush is about 8.5 feet tall and about 5 feet wide. It is five years old. Keep this bush deadheaded to keep it blooming until early fall then let it set hips for the winter.

H.C. Anderson Floribunda. No fragrance. Three to four foot plants that are continuously in bloom. Beautiful dard red semi-double. Winter hardy. A nice show when planted in groups. By M&Oleson 1987.

Heritage is an English shrub rose. The color is apricot-pink. In my yard it grows 5 -5 1/2 feet and 4 -5 feet wide. It blooms from spring to fall the fragrance is strong lemony scent. It's winter hardy and disease resistant. Easy to grow.

Iceberg A white floribunda, fragrant, covers itself all season long. In cool weather the double blooms have a soft pink look. Very winter hardy and disease resistant. There is also a nice climbing version. By Kordes 1958.

Jacques Cartier (Marchesa Boccella) is a Portland, upright double quartered-rosette. Beautilful fragrant pink blooms. The blooms sit down in the leaves at the end of the canes. To show this rose you must use the name Marchesa Boccella. Disease resistant and winter hardy.

Jeanne Lajoie is a miniature climber, with pink profuse blooms 1 inch across. It blooms all season, grows 8 - 9 feet tall, 6 - 8 feet wide.

Liebeszauber (Loves Magic) HT Large beautiful deep dark red blooms. On a plant that grows in my yard six to seven feet tall. Continuous exhibition form blooms that measure five to six inches across. Very fragrant and winter hardy. By Kordes 1991.

Livin' Easy (Harwelcome) is a floribunda. Introduced by Harkness in 1996. Color is apricot to orange. This plant has profuse double blooms in small clusters. It is disease resistant and winter hardy. I won three blue ribbons the first year I had it.

Louise Odier (Mme. de Stella) The best bourbon, deep pink rose, that just blooms and blooms its head off. Rich in fragrance, over 40 petals, grows from 5 to 10 feet. Bred by Margottin in 1851. It has olive green leaves with maroon prickles. Excellent as cut flowers.

Madame Hardy is a Damask white rose with a little green center. It grows about 5 to 6 feet tall. It blooms mid season with no repeat, very fragrant, winter hardy and disease free.

Maggie Barry is another McGredy rose, this one was introduced in 1993. It has a large bloom of coral orange to salmon in color. It is vigorous, upright, free flowering, and is very disease resistant.

Marvelle is a hybrid tea. The color is orange and yellow striped (beautiful) it grows about 4 - 4 1/2 feet tall and 3 feet wide. It blooms it heart out. Fragrance, little or none, disease resistant and hardy. Easy to grow

Mermaid This is a big one. Growing to 30' wide and 20' high. The fragrant flowers are a soft yellow. The dark foliage is glossy and the plant has large red, hooked thorns, don't plant near a walkway. Bred by Paul in 1918 in the United Kingdom. Given the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit in 1993.

New Dawn is a pink climber. Mine is about 15 feet tall and 10 feet wide. It took mine five years to repeat all season. The first two years it only bloomed in the spring but on the third year it started to throw a few blooms in the fall and now it blooms all season. This is the first plant to be patented in the USA. 1930. It is a sport of Dr. Van Fleet.

Nuits de Young (Black Moss) (Old Black) Bred by laffay in 1845. This ia thornless rose, but is loaded with purplish brown, very fragrant, stubbly moss. Colorful blooms are very dark velvety black-currant purple with gray overtones. This rose does not repeat. Grows to about 4' tall and 3' wide.

Queen Elizabeth is a medium pink grandiflora. Double 35 to 40 petals, 4- 6 feet tall. Winter hardy and disease resistant.

Robusta Hybrid Rugosa, is a shrub introduced in 1979 by Kordes. It grows about 6-8 feet tall, it has single blooms that are a nice medium red. Disease resistant and winter hardy. This rose does not like to be pruned or sprayed. It has thorny canes with glossy green leathery leaves.

Rosa Rugosa color is pink, very hardy, disease proof. Do not use any chemical sprays on any Rugosa. It does not like chemicals and any part that receives any will just turn brown and die.

Rosa Rugosa Alba is the same as above except it's white.

Sir Thomas Lipton hybrid Rugosa, color is white. Classed as a rambler that grows 6 -8 feet tall. Strong fragrance. They are double and blooms all season.

Tropicana is a Hybrid Tea. Color is fluorescent orange. Blooms are double. Very fragrant and grows about 5 feet, winter hardy and disease resistant. Easy to grow, Great rose.

William Baffin is a modern shrub growing 10 to 12 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide. Color is deep pink, with no scent. It is probably the hardiest of all the new shrubs.
