Nightly news magazine internship duties include:

  • Assisting field producers with a variety of tasks.
  • Making phone calls to persons for prospective shows, finding footage from old shows and news tapes, researching information via the Internet and phone calls.
  • Answering viewer calls concerning requests for information on previous shows, information on upcoming shows and how to obtain copies of shows that were aired.
  • Logging footage of shoots and nightly shows. Logging shoots entails viewing the tape and typing each word and various actions. Logging each show includes describing main subjects, people, and places.
  • Attending field shoots with producers for upcoming shows.
  • Joining editing sessions with producers and/or talent.
  • Staying for live Chronicle broadcasts at 7:30 p.m. Full-time interns work a 40-hour work week.
  • Part-time interns work a minimum of two days a week.
