BOSTON -- WCVB-TV/DT Channel 5 and TheBostonChannel.com were the only television station and Web sites in the Boston market honored by the prestigious National Headliner Awards. WCVB was recognized in the following categories:

Newscast – Third Place – NewsCenter 5 recognized for 11pm newscast.

Breaking News – Second Place – WCVB honored for outstanding coverage of a massive early morning fire in Lawrence that claimed an entire block and left dozens homeless.

Online Journalism – Second Place – TheBostonChannel.com was runner-up on the overall excellence of the site. It was second to CNN and ahead of third place ESPN.
