The National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association has named WCVB-TV/DT Channel 5’s Mike Lynch Massachusetts Sportscaster of the Year. Lynch will be honored along with national winners Jim Nantz (CBS Sports) and Bob Ryan (The Boston Globe), other state winners, including Tony Massarotti and Hall of Fame inductees Larry Munson (University of Georgia Football Network) and Leigh Montville (The Boston Globe/Sports Illustrated) at a ceremony in North Carolina in early May.

Lynch was voted the prestigious honor by fellow sportscasters and sportswriters. He has won the award twelve times previously in his career. Lynch has been principal sports anchor at WCVB since September 1985. He is also the founder of “High Five,” a NewsCenter 5 report highlighting local student athletes. Lynch is currently reporting and blogging for WCVB and TheBostonChannel.com from Red Sox Spring Training in Ft. Myers, Florida.
