BOSTON -- The Massachusetts/Rhode Island Associated Press announced today WCVB-TV/DT Channel 5 has been honored with three first-place awards in the 2007 competition. The awards will be presented April 4 at the annual RTNDA/AP banquet.

WCVB was recognized in the following categories: Best Newscast, General News Reporting (Kelley's Story) and Sports Program (SportsCenter 5 OT).

WCVB President and General Manager Bill Fine said, "It's a tribute to the hard work and dedication of our news team to win three Associated Press Awards, especially best newscast. In addition to being the top-rated station in the market, WCVB has enjoyed significant recognition nationally as well as in New England, for outstanding news coverage over the past year."

Just last week WCVB received two National Headliner Awards, a third place honor in the Newscast division and second place in the Coverage of a Live Breaking News Event category. In February the Gracie Awards recognized WCVB for "Kelley's Story" and "Every Woman's Risk."
