October 29th-Plants For Winter Interest-Part II

Today I continue the theme of creating interest in your garden for the winter. We have several plants that will give you color this winter.

The first is cotoneaster. I love the berries on this plant. http://www.bonsai-bci.com/species/cotoneaster.html

The next is a plant I have a tough time growing. Its the heathers. However, if you can get them to grow, they are awesome. http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/heather/handy_guide.html

Erica is a hybrid and hardier than most heathers. http://www.paghat.com/ericawhite.html

Gaultheria 'Eastern Teaberry' Great plant and you can eat the berries. Be sure you know its the right plant! http://www.cnr.vt.edu/dendro/dendrology/syllabus/factsheet.cfm?ID=148

Finally, no winter garden is complete without a mini Chamaecyparis. I like 'Nana Aurea' for its yellow color. http://www.botany.com/chamaecyparis.html
