Eagles RB Westbrook Joins McNabb On Sidelines

POSTED: 7:37 am EST December 7, 2005

An MRI revealed that Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook has a sprain in his right foot and he will miss the rest of the season.

Westbrook, who recently signed a five-year contract extension, has rushed for 614 yards on 157 attempts while catching 61 passes for 616 yards with a combined seven touchdowns this year.

That leaves Philadelphia without its three top offensive weapons for the remainder of the year. Quarterback Donovan McNabb had surgery to correct a sports hernia and wideout Terrell Owens served a suspension and has been deactivated by the team.

In their latest setback against Seattle on Monday, a 42-0 thrashing, Westbrook had nine carries for 17 yards and five receptions for 38 yards. He left the contest after the team's first possession with what was originally called a foot sprain, but later returned.

It is unknown whether or not the injury requires surgery.

Ryan Moats is likely to split time with Reno Mahe and Lamar Gordon in Westbrook's absence at the halfback position.
