Week 13: Colts Tame Titans, Stay Perfect

Colts 35, Titans 3
INDIANAPOLIS -- Peyton Manning threw three touchdown passes and Edgerrin James ran for 107 yards with a score, as the Indianapolis Colts kept their unbeaten season alive with a methodical 35-3 victory over the Tennessee Titans at the RCA Dome. Larry Triplett gave the Indianapolis defense a touchdown in the fourth quarter and the Colts (12-0) became just the fifth team in NFL history to open a season with 12 consecutive wins. Indianapolis also became the first team to clinch a playoff spot and can capture the AFC South title next week with a victory against the Jaguars. Manning completed 13-of-17 passes for 187 yards in the victory, the sixth in a row for the Colts over the Titans. Tennessee (3-9) was coming off a win last week against San Francisco, but was no match for the high-powered Colts and lost for the sixth time in its last seven games.

Panthers 24, Falcons 6
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- DeShaun Foster finished with 180 total yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Carolina Panthers past the Atlanta Falcons, 24-6, in a big NFC South matchup at Bank of America Stadium. Foster rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown while also catching three passes for 49 yards and a score for the Panthers (9-3), who have won eight of their last nine games. Jake Delhomme finished with 164 yards passing on 17-of-27 attempts with two touchdown passes and a pick for Carolina, which moved two games ahead of Atlanta for the top spot in the division. Warrick Dunn rushed for 80 yards on 16 carries for the Falcons (7-5), who have lost three of their last four games.

Dolphins 24, Bills 23
MIAMI -- Sage Rosenfels threw a four-yard touchdown pass to Chris Chambers on fourth down with six seconds remaining, as the Miami Dolphins completed a remarkable comeback with a 24-23 victory over the Buffalo Bills. The Dolphins (5-7) trailed 21-0 after the first quarter and 23-3 entering the fourth, but scored three touchdowns behind Rosenfels after Gus Frerotte was knocked out of the game with a concussion in the third period. Rosenfels completed 22-of-37 passes for 272 yards with a pair of touchdowns and one interception. Chambers had a huge game with franchise records of 15 receptions for 238 yards. The Bills (4-8) have lost three in a row and five of their last six games. J.P. Losman threw for a career-high 224 yards and three first-quarter touchdowns to Lee Evans, but the Buffalo offense stalled after the opening stanza.

Bengals 38, Steelers 31
PITTSBURGH -- Carson Palmer threw for 227 yards and three touchdowns, as the Cincinnati Bengals took control of the AFC North with a 38-31 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field. Rudi Johnson rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns while T.J. Houshmandzadeh took advantage of the Steelers double- teaming Chad Johnson by catching five passes for 88 yards and two scores for Cincinnati (9-3), which has won four of its last five games. Willie Parker ran for 71 yards and Hines Ward caught nine passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns for Pittsburgh (7-5), which has lost three straight games.

Giants 17, Dallas 10
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Antonio Pierce returned a fumble 12 yards for a touchdown and the New York Giants overcame a lackluster offensive effort and another missed field goal to down the Dallas Cowboys, 17-10, at Giants Stadium. Pierce's touchdown came on the first play of the second half and staked the Giants to a 17-point lead, helping New York (8-4) take a one-game advantage in the NFC East over Dallas (7-5). Eli Manning completed 12-of-31 passes for 152 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions for the Giants, who rebounded from last week's overtime loss to Seattle to win for the fifth time in seven outings. Tiki Barber ran for 115 yards on 30 carries as New York split the season series with the Cowboys. Drew Bledsoe went 15-for-39 for 146 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions for Dallas, which has dropped two in a row.

Bears 19, Packers 7
CHICAGO -- Robbie Gould kicked four field goals and Nathan Vasher scored a touchdown on an interception return as the Chicago Bears defeated the Green Bay Packers, 19-7, at Soldier Field. The dominant Chicago defense sacked Brett Favre twice, picked him off twice and recovered two of his fumbles. The Bears (9-3) won for the eighth straight week despite being outgained 358-188. Thomas Jones ran for 93 yards on 19 carries and Kyle Orton was a paltry 6-of-17 for 68 yards with an interception for Chicago, which beat Green Bay at Soldier Field for the first time since 1993. Favre was 31-of-58 for 277 yards and two interceptions and Samkon Gado ran for 75 yards and a touchdown for the Packers (2-10), who have dropped their last three games.

Jaguars 20, Browns 14
CLEVELAND -- David Garrard threw two touchdown passes and iced the game with a 28-yard scamper late in the fourth quarter, as Jacksonville stayed on the inside track for a playoff berth with a 20-14 comeback victory over Cleveland at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The signal- caller, playing in place of the injured Byron Leftwich, completed 11-of-20 passes for 116 yards, while Greg Jones ran for 103 yards in the victory. Jimmy Smith hauled in three passes for 49 yards and the go-ahead touchdown for Jacksonville (9-3), which has won five straight games. Charlie Frye completed 13-of-20 passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns in his first NFL start, while rookie wide receiver Braylon Edwards caught five passes for 86 yards and two touchdowns before leaving in the fourth quarter with an apparent knee injury. The Browns (4-8) have lost three of their last four games.

Vikings 21, Lions 16
DETROIT -- Koren Robinson had four catches for 148 yards and a touchdown, as the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Detroit Lions, 21-16, at Ford Field. Brad Johnson was 17-of-23 for 256 yards and two touchdowns for the Vikings (7-5), who won their fifth straight game with the veteran under center. Johnson also became the 51st quarterback in NFL history to go over 25,000 passing yards in his career. Michael Bennett rushed 22 times for 79 yards and a score and also had a receiving touchdown in the win. Jeff Garcia was 17-of-35 for 126 yards and an interception for the Lions (4-8), who have dropped four of their last five games. Interim coach Dick Jauron suffered his first loss with the Lions after replacing Steve Mariucci earlier this week. Mariucci was fired after going 15-28 in two plus seasons.

Buccaneers 10, Saints 3
BATON ROUGE, La. -- Joey Galloway caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Chris Simms and Ronde Barber had three interceptions to lead Tampa Bay past New Orleans, 10-3, at Tiger Stadium. Galloway finished with five catches for 75 yards in addition to the score for the Buccaneers (8-4), who have won three of their last four games. Simms threw for 123 yards on 12-of-21 passing in the win. Cadillac Williams paced the running attack with 96 yards on 22 carries as Tampa Bay has now won three of its last four games against the Saints. Aaron Brooks passed for 215 yards on 18-of-34 throwing, but was intercepted four times for the Saints (3-9), who have lost seven of their last eight games.

Ravens 16, Texans 15
BALTIMORE, Md. -- Matt Stover kicked a 38-yard field goal with six seconds left to lift the Baltimore Ravens over the Houston Texans, 16-15, at M&T Bank Stadium. Kyle Boller finished 17-of-33 for 198 yards and ran for a touchdown for the Ravens (4-8), who won for the second time in three outings. Adalius Thomas returned an interception 20 yards for a score, as the Baltimore defense recorded five sacks and forced two turnovers. Kris Brown kicked five field goals for the Texans (1-11), whose horrid season continues. David Carr completed 17-of-37 passes for 165 yards with an interception, as Houston failed to score a touchdown and lost for the fifth straight time. Domanick Davis ran for 155 yards for Houston, which led with 1:08 remaining after a Brown 39-yard field goal, but failed to hold on.

Cardinals 17, 49ers10
SAN FRANCISCO -- Kurt Warner threw for 354 yards and a touchdown, as Arizona defeated San Francisco, 17-10, at Monster Park. Warner's two favorite targets, Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald, compiled 285 receiving yards, with Boldin scoring the game-winning touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Boldin ended with 11 catches for 156 yards while Fitzgerald caught eight passes for 129 yards. J.J. Arrington ran for 59 yards on 18 carries for the Cardinals (4-8), who have won two of their last three games. Alex Smith completed 16-of-24 passes for 185 yards, but was intercepted three times for the 49ers (2-10), who have lost five straight games with three different starting quarterbacks. San Francisco could not establish a ground game, as Frank Gore led the 49ers with just 22 yards rushing.

Redskins 24, Rams 9
St. LOUIS, Mo. -- Clinton Portis rushed 27 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns as the Washington Redskins defeated the St. Louis Rams, 24-9, at the Edward Jones Dome. Portis reached the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the fourth consecutive season. Rock Cartwright added 118 yards on the ground on nine carries for the Redskins (6-6), who snapped a three-game losing streak. Torry Holt caught six passes for 75 yards for the Rams (5-7), who lost for the third time in the last four games. Holt now has six straight seasons with 1,000 yards receiving. In his first NFL start, Ryan Fitzpatrick was 21-of-36 with an interception and a rushing touchdown. With the St. Louis loss, the Seattle Seahawks clinched the NFC West division title.

Chiefs 31, Chiefs 27
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Larry Johnson carried the ball 30 times for 140 yards with two touchdowns, as Kansas City defeated Denver, 31-27, in a big AFC West showdown at Arrowhead Stadium. Johnson became the eighth player in team history to eclipse 1,000 rushing yards in a season, as he has 1,108 yards this year. In addition, the Penn State product tied a team record by running for at least 100 yards for the fifth straight game. Trent Green ended 16-of-23 for 253 yards with two touchdowns and a pair of interceptions for the Chiefs (8-4), who have won three straight games and remain in the thick of both the AFC West division and wild card hunt. Kansas City has now won 17 straight home games in the month of December. Jake Plummer was 18-of-29 for 276 yards with a touchdown and two picks for the Broncos (9-3), who had a four-game winning streak halted and saw their division lead reduced to one game.

Patriots 16, Jets 3
FOXBORO, Mass. -- Tom Brady threw for 271 yards and the Patriots defense held a lethargic Jets offense to just 164 yards as New England defeated the New York Jets, 16-3, at Gillette Stadium. Brady went 27-of-37 with no touchdowns or interceptions and Corey Dillon carried the ball 16 times for 65 yards and a score for the Patriots (7-5), who have won three of their last four games and retain a two-game lead in the AFC East. Brooks Bollinger went 15-of-37 for 135 yards and one interception and Curtis Martin only managed 29 yards on 15 carries for the Jets (2-10), who have now lost seven straight.

Chargers 34, Raiders 10
SAN DIEGO -- Drew Brees ended 17-of-22 for 160 yards with two touchdowns, as San Diego pounded Oakland, 34-10, in an AFC West battle from Qualcomm Stadium. LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 86 yards on 25 carries for the red-hot Chargers (8-4), who have won five straight games and remain in the thick of both the AFC West division and wild card hunt. Kerry Collins was just 22-of-40 for 236 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Raiders (4-8), who have dropped four of their past five games.

Seahawks 42, Eagles 0 (Monday)
PHILADELPHIA -- Andre Dyson returned an interception and fumble for touchdowns, and Shaun Alexander rushed for two scores, as the Seattle Seahawks used a huge first half to dismantle the Philadelphia Eagles, 42-0, at a snowy Lincoln Financial Field. Lofa Tatupu also ran back an interception for a touchdown for the Seahawks (10-2), who capitalized on six turnovers and tied the 1984 franchise record with their eighth consecutive win. They clinched the NFC West title Sunday by virtue of St. Louis' loss to Washington and continue to have the best record in the conference. Alexander finished with just 49 yards on 19 carries, and Matt Hasselbeck connected on 8-of-15 passes for 98 yards and a score for Seattle, which led 35-0 at the half and coasted despite only 194 yards of offense. Mike McMahon had almost as many interceptions as he did completions before being replaced by Koy Detmer for the Eagles (5-7), who have lost five of their last six games. It was Philadelphia's largest margin of defeat since a 62-10 road loss to the New York Giants on November 26, 1972.
