Broncos 28, Patriots 20
DENVER -- Rod Smith had 123 yards receiving and a touchdown and Tatum Bell ran for 114 yards and a score as the Denver Broncos defeated the New England Patriots, 28-20, at Invesco Field at Mile High. Jake Plummer was 17-of-24 for 262 yards and two touchdowns, Ashley Lelie added 81 yards receiving and Mike Anderson ran for 57 yards and a score for the Broncos (5-1), who won their fifth straight contest after a season-opening defeat to Miami. Patrick Pass had 89 yards receiving and ran for 64 yards and a score and Tom Brady was 24-of-46 for 299 yards and a touchdown for the Patriots (3-3), who has lost more than two games in a season for the first time in three years.

Cowboys 16, Giants 13 (OT)
IRVING, Texas -- Jose Cortez kicked a 45-yard field goal 3:47 into overtime, lifting the Dallas Cowboys to a 16-13 win over the New York Giants at Texas Stadium. Cortez missed a pair of field-goal attempts, but came through late in the game with three in a row for Dallas (4-2), which has posted back-to-back division wins. Drew Bledsoe threw for 312 yards with a touchdown and Keyshawn Johnson had his best game of 2005 with 120 yards on eight catches in the win. Dallas is now alone in first place in the NFC East after the Redskins lost at Kansas City. Eli Manning completed 14 of his 30 attempts for 215 yards with a TD and an interception for New York (3-2). Jeremy Shockey, whose 24-yard touchdown catch tied the game with 19 seconds left in regulation, had 129 yards on five receptions in the setback.

Chargers 27, Raiders 14
OAKLAND -- LaDainian Tomlinson accounted for 183 total yards and three scores, which included a four-yard passing touchdown, as San Diego defeated Oakland, 27-14, at McAfee Coliseum. Tomlinson rushed for 140 yards and a score on 31 carries while catching two balls for 39 yards with a touchdown for the Chargers (3-3), who have won three of their last four games following two straight losses to begin the season. In addition, Tomlinson also tied an NFL record held by Hall-of-Fame running back Lenny Moore by scoring at least one touchdown in 18 straight games. Drew Brees was 14-of-20 for 164 yards with 164 yards and a touchdown in the win. Kerry Collins completed 24 of his 48 attempts and threw for 292 yards with an interception for the Raiders (1-4), who are off to their worst start since the 1996 team also began with four losses in its first five games.

Panthers 21, Lions 20
DETROIT -- Chris Weinke entered the game late in the fourth quarter in place of an injured Jake Delhomme and orchestrated the winning touchdown drive, as the Carolina Panthers edged the Detroit Lions, 21-20, at Ford Field. Weinke, playing in his first game since 2002, went 5-of-7 for 47 yards, and hit Ricky Proehl for the deciding three-yard touchdown pass with 32 seconds left. Steve Smith caught six balls for 123 yards and a score for the Panthers (4-2), who came from behind to win for the second straight week. Delhomme finished 15-of-25 for 236 yards and a pair of touchdowns but also threw three interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns. Joey Harrington completed 17-of-28 passes for 201 yards with no touchdowns and one interception for the Lions (2-3), who have lost two of their last three.

Jaquars 23, Steelers 17 (OT)
PITTSBURGH -- Rashean Mathis intercepted a Tommy Maddox pass in overtime and returned it 41 yards for a touchdown to give Jacksonville a 23-17 win over Pittsburgh at Heinz Field. Maddox, starting in place of an injured Ben Roethlisberger, had four turnovers. Roethlisberger was sidelined with a hyperextended left knee, and Maddox had an ineffective day in his place, completing 11-of-28 passes for 154 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions. Byron Leftwich completed 19-of-35 passes for 177 yards with a touchdown and an interception for Jacksonville (4-2). Rookie tight end Heath Miller hauled in four passes for 72 yards and a touchdown to lead the Steelers (3-2).

Bills 27, Jets 17
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Willis McGahee rushed for a career-high 143 yards and a touchdown as the Buffalo Bills defeated the New York Jets, 27-17, at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Bills quarterback Kelly Holcomb completed 18-of-26 passes for 172 yards with two touchdowns and a pair of interceptions. Wide receiver Eric Moulds caught seven passes for 63 yards and a TD for Buffalo (3-3). Curtis Martin rushed 18 times for 148 yards and a TD for the Jets (2-4). Vinny Testaverde finished the game 12-of-26 for 161 yards, one rushing TD, two interceptions and one lost fumble.

Hawks 34, Saints 31
SAN ANTONIO -- Todd Peterson booted a 36-yard field goal on a second-chance opportunity with no time remaining to give Atlanta a 34-31 victory over New Orleans in an NFC South thriller at the Alamodome.Peterson missed wide left on his initial 41-yard attempt but the Saints' Tony Bryant was flagged for defensive holding. The veteran kicker then split the uprights on his next try to lift Atlanta (4-2) to its third win in four games. Warrick Dunn rushed for 100 yards on 22 carries and gave the Falcons a 31-24 lead with a 21-yard touchdown run with 4:37 left to play. The Saints' (2-4) Aaron Brooks threw for 259 yards on 22-of-33 passing and two touchdowns.

Bears 28, Vikings 3
CHICAGO -- Kyle Orton threw for 117 yards and a pair of touchdowns, both to Desmond Clark, to lead the Chicago Bears over the Minnesota Vikings, 28-3, at Soldier Field. Thomas Jones rushed for 89 yards on 23 carries while also scoring twice for the Bears (2-3), who snapped a two-game losing streak. Muhsin Muhammad was Orton's favorite target, as he made five catches for 48 yards. Clark, in addition to his two touchdowns, caught four passes total for 19 yards. Daunte Culpepper finished 26-of-48 passing for 237 yards, but was also picked off twice as the Vikings (1-4) lost their second in a row.

Bengals 31, Titans 23
NASHVILLE -- Carson Palmer threw for 272 yards on 27-of-33 passing with a pair of touchdowns, including the go-ahead score to Chad Johnson, as the Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Tennessee Titans, 31-23, at The Coliseum. Johnson caught eight passes for 135 yards in addition to the score and Rudi Johnson added 80 yards on the ground with a touchdown for the Bengals (5-1), who rebounded from a 23-20 loss at Jacksonville last Sunday night. Chris Perry had a solid game for Cincinnati as well, hauling in nine passes for 45 yards and a touchdown. Kevin Walter added four catches for 65 yards in the win. Steve McNair finished 26-of-41 passing for 259 yards with two interceptions for the Titans (2-4), who fell to 1-3 in their last four games.

Ravens 16, Browns 3
BALTIMORE -- Chester Taylor and Jamal Lewis ran for a combined 151 yards, and Todd Heap caught a touchdown pass as the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Cleveland Browns, 16-3, in an AFC North matchup at M&T Bank Stadium. Anthony Wright completed 23-of-31 passes for 213 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Ravens. Lewis carried the ball 24 times for 59 yards and Taylor broke off a 52-yard run en route to 92 yards rushing on the day for Baltimore (2-3), which won for the second time in three games. Derrick Mason added eight catches for 85 yards for Baltimore. Former Raven Trent Dilfer was 16-of-30 for 147 yards and an interception, and Reuben Droughns had 15 carries for 55 yards for Cleveland (2-3), which lost for the second time in its last three games.

Buccaneers 27, Dolphins 13
TAMPA, Fla. -- Michael Pittman rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on 15 attempts as Tampa Bay recorded a 27-13 victory over Miami at Raymond James Stadium. Joey Galloway had nine catches for 96 yards and a score, while the Buccaneers' top-ranked defense put forth another superb effort to help Tampa Bay (5-1) withstand the losses of star rookie running back Cadillac Williams and starting quarterback Brian Griese. Williams was inactive for the second straight week due to an ailing hamstring and foot, while Griese left with a sprained left knee late in the second quarter and did not return. Griese completed 12-of-16 passes for 120 yards, including a seven-yard TD to Galloway in the first quarter. His replacement, Chris Simms, went 6-for-10 for 69 yards. Gus Frerotte threw for 267 yards but hit on just 21-of-43 throws in the loss, Miami's (2-3) second straight.

Chiefs 28, Redskins 21
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Sammy Knight returned a fumble 80 yards for a touchdown and Priest Holmes recorded a pair of scores, leading the Kansas City Chiefs to a 28-21 win over the Washington Redskins at Arrowhead Stadium. Holmes had 100 yards and a touchdown on five receptions, but posted just 18 yards and a TD on 14 carries for the Chiefs (3-2), who ended a two-game losing streak. Trent Green, who started his NFL career in Washington in 1997-98, ended 15-of-25 for 181 yards and a score, as the Chiefs looked sharp coming off their bye week. Mark Brunell completed 25 of his 41 attempts for 331 yards and three touchdowns, as the Redskins (3-2) suffered their second straight setback.

Seahawks 42, Texans 10
SEATTLE -- Shaun Alexander rushed for 141 yards and four touchdowns on 22 carries, as Seattle hammered Houston, 42-10, at Qwest Field. Matt Hasselbeck ended 14-of-20 for 168 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the NFC West-leading Seahawks (4-2), who have won two straight games. Seattle dominated in all facets and racked up 318 rushing yards, including 104 from backup Maurice Morris. David Carr completed only 19 of his 33 passes and threw for 179 yards with a TD for the Texans (0-5), who remained the NFL's only winless team.
