CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- John Carney hit a 47-yard field goal with three seconds left to give the New Orleans Saints a 23-20 win over the Carolina Panthers at Charlotte.Carney's third field goal of the second half gave the Gulf Coast something to cheer about just two weeks after Hurricane Katrina left the Saints and thousands of others homeless.Deuce McAllister's second touchdown of the afternoon put New Orleans ahead 14-7 in the first half. McAllister ran for 64 yards and Aaron Brooks threw for 192 yards without an interception.Colts 24, Ravens 7
BALTIMORE, Md. -- Peyton Manning threw two touchdown passes in the third quarter as Indianapolis cruised to a 24-7 season-opening victory over Baltimore at M&T Bank Stadium.Manning, who set the NFL's single-season record with 49 touchdown throws last season, rebounded from an inconsistent first half to finish with 254 yards while completing 21-of-36 attempts.His 28-yard scoring strike to Marvin Harrison with 8:43 remaining in the third quarter gave the Colts (1-0) a 10-0 lead. Less than four minutes later, Manning connected with tight end Ben Utecht for a 26-yard touchdown which essentially sealed the win. Steelers 34, Titans 7
PITTSBURGH -- Willie Parker had 161 rushing yards and a touchdown in his first career start as Pittsburgh hammered Tennessee 34-7.Parker also caught a 48-yard screen pass on the Steelers' first possession, setting up Ben Roethlisberger's three-yard touchdown pass to first-round pick Heath Miller.Roethlisberger had a perfect 158.3 passer rating, completing nine passes of 11 for 218 yards and two touchdowns. SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco pulled off one of the day's biggest surprises, beating St. Louis 28-25 in Mike Nolan's first game as the 49ers' head coach.Tim Rattay sandwiched a pair of second-quarter touchdown passes around Fred Amey's 75-yard punt return for a touchdown.Rams quarterback Marc Bulger threw for a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns but was intercepted by Mike Adams at the Niners' 24 in the final minute. MIAMI -- It didn't take Nick Saban much time to get his first NFL win.Gus Frerotte completed 24 of 36 pass attempts for 275 yards and two touchdowns as Miami hammered Denver 34-10.Jason Taylor returned a fumble 85 yards for a touchdown to help the Dolphins improve to 7-0 versus the Broncos at Miami. KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City put together an easy 27-7 win over the New York Jets by scoring 17 points on its first three possessions.Larry Johnson finished with 110 yards and two touchdowns on just nine carries. Priest Holmes added 85 yards on the ground while the Chiefs were taking advantage of quarterback Chad Pennington's six fumbles. Pennington fumbled just five times all of last year. Bills 22, Texans 7

Losman looked good in his first pro start, leading the Buffalo Bills to scores on their first five possessions in a 22-7 triumph over Houston.Losman completed 17of 28 passes for 171 yards, including a one-yard touchdown pass to tackle-eligible Jason Peters.Rian Lindell hit a career-high five field goals while the Bills were holding David Carr to nine completions in 21 attempts for just 70 yards and three interceptions.
