Sox Call Up Bausher

Schilling On Disabled List For 15 Days

POSTED: 5:19 pm EDT April 29, 2005

The Red Sox on Friday called right-handed pitcher Tim Bausher up from Triple-A Pawtucket while Curt Schilling spends 15 days on the disabled list with a bone bruise on his surgically repaired right ankle.

Bausher, who has never pitched in the major leagues, was called up two days after the Red Sox said Schilling would miss at least two weeks, the latest setback for a starting rotation that lost David Wells a few days earlier.

The Red Sox said Schilling would go on the disabled list retroactive to April 24.

Bausher had no record and a 3.24 earned-run average in four relief appearances with the PawSox this season. The 26-year-old was claimed off waivers from the Colorado Rockies organization in December.

The fourth-year professional went 1-0 and did not allow an earned run in six innings over five relief appearances for the Red Sox in spring training.

Schilling is 1-2 with a 7.13 ERA in three starts this season. The 38-year-old began the season on the disabled list while continuing to recover from offseason ankle surgery. He was activated April 13 after missing the first seven games of the season.
