Francona Treated For Chest Tightness
Manager Moved To Boston Hospital

BOSTON -- Red Sox manager Terry Francona was being treated at Massachusetts General Hospital Thursday after complaining of tightness in his chest while traveling with the team in New York.
NewsCenter 5's Gail Huff reported that the Sox skipper had been at Yankee Stadium Wednesday preparing for the team's game against the Yankees when he complained he wasn't feeling well. He was taken to Cornell Medical Center.Francona was air lifted to Mass General, and will undergo a procedure in Boston.Three years ago, he spent one month in the hospital after developing infections in his knees. He had eight surgeries to alleviate the problems.Bench coach Brad Mills took over for Francona for Wednesday's scheduled game."I talked to him about taking a nap on the bus ride over. It's about a 40-minute drive with traffic and he fell asleep. I kind of kidded him about taking a nap. When he looked up and said, 'Mills, I don't feel too well,' that's not the type of response he usually gives me when I say something like that," Mills said.Mills said that he spoke to Francona after he got to the hospital and said that he is doing well.Francona was hired by the Red Sox in December 2003 after working as manager for the Philadelphia Phillies through four losing seasons from 1997 to 2000. He spent the 2001 season as special assistant for baseball operations for the Cleveland Indians. He was bench coach for the Texas Rangers in 2002.Son of former major-league outfielder Tito Francona, he was an outfielder and first baseman in the majors for 10 seasons with Montreal, the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Milwaukee. He hit .274 with 16 homers in 708 games.Francona was given a three-year deal, with a club option for a fourth year, when he was hired by the Red Sox organization.
