BOSTON -- With Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein off to join the Chicago Cubs and manager Terry Francona summarily dismissed, the team's beloved slugger David Ortiz is sounding like he is fed up with everything and ready to move on himself."Too much drama, man. My head is spinning way too much," Ortiz said.In a candid interview with ESPN, Ortiz said there has been too much drama with the Red Sox. He said the team's epic implosion at the end of the season has raised a lot of questions for him, and fans shouldn't be surprised if they don't see him at Fenway next spring.

We're not going to go back to the World Series, Ortiz said, expressing his frustrations with the collapse. Some of Big Papi's fans said the idea that he might leave is nearly unthinkable."This is where his legend was made. God, it would be heartbreak," said one man outside Fenway Park."There's so few guys that can come in here and perform that when you find one, how do you let him go?" said another fan.For Ortiz, however, it's the decline of the Red Sox that's difficult to understand."It's unexplainable when as good of a team like that played like that at the end of the season, when you've been playing so well. There's going to be a lot of questions out there," Ortiz said.Even former Red Sox pitching star Curt Schilling, who played with Ortiz on the World Series team of 2004, said on WEEI radio that he's shocked at what's happening."The amount of disrespect that the players involved here showed to each other, to the organization, to Tito, to the game, is staggering to me ... I'm blown away. I'm incredibly disappointed. Things have changed here for a long, long time, and I think it's for the worse. I think the way that this was handled by the organization is pathetic and embarrassing. Why would you want to root for this team?" Schilling said.Ortiz said he didn't believe Francona was surprised at his own ouster. Now, with Epstein set to accept a $20 million contact with the Cubs for the next five years, Ortiz, who will soon be eligible for free agency, is thinking about his own future and that of his team.
He made several hints that he might even consider defecting to the Red Sox long-time rivals, the New York Yankees."I have a lot of friends there and all they talk about is how great things are, even when things are going bad, so, that's something that's good for them. It's a good situation that a player can be involved in," Ortiz said. What can the Red Sox do to reverse the team's slide? Ortiz said the owners are probably on the right track."I think the solution of the whole thing is that our owners just do what they've been doing and try to fix things and get things going for next year," Ortiz said.
