(Sports Network) - The Boston Bruins try to continue their recent mastery of the Atlanta Thrashers this evening when they welcome them to TD Garden.

Boston, which has won its last seven meetings against the Thrashers, comes into tonight's tilt on a high note after snapping a four-game skid with a thrilling 2-0 win over Ottawa on Monday.

Tim Thomas stopped all 29 shots that he faced to pick up his NHL-leading fourth shutout of the season, while Patrice Bergeron and Marco Sturm each tallied third period goals to provide the offense.

"Tim (Thomas) is always playing well, giving us a chance to win. It doesn't matter if it's Ottawa or anyone else, he's always there and he's always playing great," Bergeron said of Thomas.

Thomas' strong play could continue this evening, as he 3-0-0 with a 2.27 goals-against average in his last three starts against Atlanta.

With the victory over Ottawa the Bruins moved past the Senators into second place in the Northeast Division, six points back of the Buffalo Sabres.

Following tonight's contest, Boston will hit the Sunshine State for a pair of games, facing Florida on Sunday before visiting Tampa on Monday. The Bruins are 10-6-3 in their arena this season.

Atlanta, meanwhile, will be starting a season-high seven-game road trip tonight. The Thrashers, though, enter tonight's tilt riding a two-game losing streak with losses in three of their last four.

Atlanta's latest setback came in heartbreaking fashion on Monday against Montreal, as Marc-Andre Bergeron scored the game-tying goal late in regulation and had the game-winner in overtime to lift the Canadiens to a 4-3 win.

Nik Antropov had two goals for the Thrashers, while Ilya Kovalchuk lit the lamp for the 20th time this season. Johan Hedberg let in all four goals on 23 shots.

"I tried to get my leg over there, but I couldn't reach," Hedberg said of Bergeron's winner. "He ran into me and got pushed into the post. It felt like it was a good goal. We have been on the receiving end. We did a lot of great things tonight. We just gotta keep plugging away."

Antropov has now scored in his last four games, while Kovalchuk has tallied four goals and six assists during a seven-game point streak.

The Thrashers, who won't return home again until January 7, are 10-6-1 away from home this season.

Atlanta's last win over the Bruins came back on December 29, 2007. The Thrashers are also just 3-8-1 in its last 12 visits to Beantown, where they haven't won since March 31, 2007.
