A Natick man has won the grand prize of tickets for every event at the TD Garden for the 2009-2010 season in the venue's golden ticket giveaway.

TD Garden gave away nearly 20,000 candy bars on Thursday at the arena and at select TD Banknorth locations in Massachusetts. Five of those candy bars held "golden tickets" that gave the holder the chance to win the grand prize.

James Lynch won the grand prize -- a pair of tickets to every Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics and Boston Blazers game, as well as concerts and family shows at the arena for the 2009-2010 season.

"I am just overwhelmed. I never expected something like this. I have a lot of favors to return, so I will be able to do that now," Lynch said.

Lynch, who has taught woodworking to behaviorally-challenged children for 14 years, said he has a few friends who deserve first dibs.

"I have two good friends that brought me here yesterday, and I'm anxious to see them again, and let them enjoy this too. This is just amazing," he said.

The four other golden ticket holders received a tour of the venue, a 10-pack of game tickets and a $500 Garden gold card.

The promotional campaign was designed to bring attention to the arena's name change from the TD Banknorth Garden to the TD Garden later this month.

On Thursday, Lynch was one of 5,000 fans who lined up at the TD Garden to pick up their candy bars and a chance to win. Some people stood in line for as long as five hours.

"We said all along that we want to make this fun, have the fans come in and participate in this, and this is all built so they can do that," TD Garden President John Wentzell said.

Four of the winning candy bars were handed out at the TD Garden, and one was found at a bank.

Hundreds of other prizes were awarded in the chocolate bars, including tickets and suites to sporting events, concerts and other shows.

The candy bars were made by local chocolatier Hebert Confections of Shrewsbury, Mass.
