Tulsa's Wojcik Agrees To New Deal

POSTED: 1:25 pm EDT June 22, 2009

(Sports Network) - The University of Tulsa announced Monday that men's head basketball coach Doug Wojcik has signed a new six-year contract that runs through the 2014-15 season.

Wojcik guided the Golden Hurricane to a 25-11 record last season and an appearance in the second round of the NIT.

"Doug has done a tremendous job with our basketball program," said Tulsa athletic director Bubba Cunningham. "He is an outstanding coach and has posted over 20 wins in each of the last three seasons, but what is just as important is that the Tulsa basketball team is comprised of outstanding students who have committed themselves to academic, athletic and personal growth development."

Tulsa has gone 81-53 overall in Wojcik's four seasons at the helm.

"Naturally, we're excited. We feel very fortunate to have the opportunity, as a coach, to be as involved as we are at The University of Tulsa and within the city of Tulsa," said Wojcik. "Tulsa is a great job and a wonderful place to raise a family."

On March 14, 2005, Wojcik was named the 28th head basketball coach at Tulsa. Before that, he was an assistant coach for 15 years with Navy, Notre Dame, North Carolina and Michigan State.
