Oregon QB Roper To Transfer

POSTED: 8:33 pm EDT May 23, 2009

(Sports Network) - Quarterback Justin Roper will transfer from the University of Oregon, Ducks head coach Chip Kelly announced Saturday.

Roper started Oregon's first three games last year but suffered a knee injury that forced him to miss the next four games.

The Georgia native finished his Oregon career with 952 passing yards, nine touchdowns and six interceptions.

"Justin is a true competitor just like any other high-caliber athlete who wishes to be out on the football field as much as possible," said Kelly. "I certainly can't fault him for that. I wish him nothing but success wherever he decides to go."
