BOSTON -- The Celtics President and General Manager Danny Ainge suffered a minor heart attack Thursday morning, the team said in a statement. The story was first reported by SportsCenter 5 which learned that Ainge was resting comfortably after being taken to the hospital after waking up with chest pains."He is recovering nicely. Mr. Ainge is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days," the statement said.Ainge, 50, who took over reins of the Celtics in in 2003 and orchestrated last year's Celtics championship by bringing in Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, did not attend Wednesday night's Celtics game because he was feeling sick.Doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital inserted a stent to unclog an artery that was 100 percent clogged, SportsCenter 5 reported.Ainge will be in the hospital for a few days and will probably miss the Celtics' playoff opener against the Bulls on Saturday. He is expected to make a full recovery. Before being named president and general manager of the Celtics in 2003, Ainge played in the NBA for 14 years and won two world championships with Boston and appeared in six NBA Finals, including four with Boston. He ranks third in NBA playoff history for games played and ranks sixth in most three-pointers made. When he retired in 1995, Ainge was one of three players in NBA history to make 1,000 or more career three-pointers along with Dale Ellis and Reggie Miller.
