Cranbury, NJ -- (Sports Network) - The Hambletonian Society announced Thursday that its next two editions of the 12-race Breeders Crown will be held on one night. Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs will host the 2010 event and Woodbine Entertainment Group in Toronto will host in 2011."Thanks to the efforts of the Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen's Association and Mohegan Sun's management team, the opportunity to have all 12 races on one night will be possible in 2010," said Tom Charters, president and CEO of the Hambletonian Society, which owns and services the events. Typically the Breeders Crown races are divided between The Meadowlands and either Mohawk or Woodbine, both owned by Woodbine Entertainment. This year, the last for the existing contract, the four open races will be at The Meadowlands on August 21 and Woodbine will have the eight races for two and three-year-olds on October 24. Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, will be the site of the 2010 Breeders Crown on November 6. Woodbine Entertainment will have the 2011 races on October 29. "It's something we have wanted to do for many years," Charters said, "but could not get the optimum dates and tracks in alignment. The management of Woodbine Entertainment Group has also been an exemplary partner of the series since 1984, and has hosted a Crown event in 24 of our 25-year history." The first Breeders Crown was held in 1984 and is an important factor when determining champions in every division for trotters and pacers. The Breeders Crown has been the deciding factor for Horse of the Year.
