Manhattan, KS -- (Sports Network) - Kansas State is set to bring back Bill Snyder as its head football coach three years after he announced his retirement from the program as its most successful coach.

According to several media sources, Snyder will return to Manhattan and the stadium that bears his name after KSU announced earlier this month that head coach Ron Prince will not return for the 2009 season.

A press conference is scheduled for 11:00 am (et) on Monday.

The 69-year-old Snyder spent 17 seasons as head coach of the program amassing a 135-68-1 record. He led the Wildcats to three Big 12 championship games and took his team to 11 consecutive bowl games, a streak that ended in 2004.

Snyder took over as coach in November 1988, and engineered a remarkable turnaround for a program that was 0-26-1 in its last 27 games before Snyder took the helm.

KSU finished up its season on Saturday with a 38-30 win over Iowa State that snapped a five-game losing streak for the school and ended a disappointing 5-7 season, which included a 2-6 mark in the Big 12 in Prince's third and final season. Prince's teams have gone 17-20 overall with the Wildcats earning a trip to the Texas Bowl in 2006 with a 7-6 mark in his first season.
