    The Boston Marathon is the world's oldest annually contested marathon, attracting runners from around the world.

    But only a handful of runners are classified as elite athletes. The thousands of other runners are regular people running for the thrill and the challenge of competing in one of the world's most celebrated races.

    Most of these runners will not get the chance to be featured in the news. But as thousands of runners get ready to lace up for the big event, TheBostonChannel.com wants to show pictures of registered runners who are competing in the race.
