Red Sox Avoid Arbitration With Youkilis

(Sports Network) - The Boston Red Sox avoided arbitration with first baseman Kevin Youkilis on Sunday by coming to terms on a one-year, $3 million contract.

Youkilis was asking for $3.7 million through arbitration, while the Red Sox offered $2.525 million.

The 28-year-old Youkilis hit .288 with 16 homers, 83 RBI and 35 doubles to go along with a .390 on-base percentage, all while earning $424,500 last season.
