(Sports Network) - Tom Brady threw for 354 yards and a career-high six touchdowns, leading the undefeated New England Patriots to a 49-28 rout of the winless Miami Dolphins.

The Patriots (7-0) had struggled recently at Dolphin Stadium, with seven losses in their last nine visits, but this is an extremely confident New England team and a reeling Dolphin squad. The Pats have now won 10 straight regular-season games dating back to last season and have opened a year with seven straight wins for the first time in club history, while Miami (0-7) has dropped 10 in a row going back to 2006 and is off to its worst start in franchise history.

New England's last loss was Miami's last win -- a 21-0 Dolphins shutout last December 10 in south Florida. It was much different this time around, as New England set team records for points in a half, with 42, and points in a quarter, with 28 in the second, en route to a 42-7 halftime cushion. The Patriots have won each of their seven games by at least 17 points and have scored at least 34 points in each outing.

"We moved the ball, scored a lot of points, something we haven't done very much down here [in Miami]," said Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. "When you score those kind of points, you have a chance. Guys did a good job offensively today."

Brady, in particular, has had problems with the Miami defense. His quarterback rating of 68.2 in the past six meetings was well below his usual standards, but on Sunday he completed 21-of-25 passes without an interception for a rating of 158.3. His 27 TD passes this season are just one shy of his single- season best of 28, set in 2002 and matched in 2004.

Randy Moss and Wes Welker each had more than 100 yards receiving and two scores. Welker, traded from Miami to New England for a pair of draft picks this past March, caught a team-best nine passes for 138 yards, while Moss had four receptions for 122.

"They just showed today what they can do to people" said Dolphins linebacker Zach Thomas, who had a team-best eight tackles. "We haven't played well even against offenses that are mediocre, so I don't know how to say it -- we've all got to play better, and I've got to play better."

Cleo Lemon struggled in his second start this season as the Miami quarterback, throwing for 236 yards with an interception and no touchdowns on 24-of-37 passing. He scored his third rushing touchdown of the season.

The Dolphins also lost their biggest offensive weapon in the third quarter when running back Ronnie Brown hurt his knee trying to make a tackle on an interception. Brown, who entered the week leading the league in yards from scrimmage, had 76 yards on 17 carries and caught five passes for 33 more.

Miami defensive end Jason Taylor returned a Matt Cassel interception for a touchdown, giving Taylor the NFL record [since 1970] for touchdowns by a defensive lineman with eight.

The Patriots took the opening kickoff and marched 80 yards on nine plays for a touchdown. Brady completed passes to four different receivers and finished the series with a 30-yard scoring strike to Donte' Stallworth, who spun out of three different tackles on his way to the end zone.

Miami's first possession ended in a fumble by Lemon, who lost the ball after one of his own lineman was driven into him by a New England defender. The Patriots needed just six plays to again find the end zone, as Brady hooked up with Kyle Brady for a two-yard score.

The Dolphins answered with their only sustained march of the opening half, as Lemon scored on a four-yard run on the first play of the second quarter, but the momentum quickly changed again.

Willie Andrews returned the ensuing kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown and a 21-7 lead.

Two Miami punts then led to a pair of New England touchdowns. Tom Brady heaved one up for Moss, who outleaped a defender in the end zone for a 35-yard score. Moss then went up and hauled one in from 50 yards to make it 35-7.

"He's something else," Brady said of Moss. "Randy's two touchdown catches were awesome. Two guys on him, and he's jumping up and one he looked like he caught with one hand. You give him a chance, he usually comes down with it."

Brady capped his memorable first half with a 14-yard TD pass to Welker with just 25 seconds remaining.

The first-half numbers were simply astounding, as the Patriots outgained the Dolphins 336-135. Brady completed 16-of-19 passes, including his first 11, for 219 yards. Moss caught just three of those, but for 104 yards, while Welker had six receptions for 100 yards.

"We've struggled so many times down here with this team and this defense," Brady noted. "The plan was good today and I thought we executed well in the first half. I wish we'd have played a little bit better in the second half, but any time you come down here and get a win it's a great feeling.

Miami's first possession of the second half started well but ended with a turnover, as Lemon was intercepted in the back of the end zone by Randall Gay. Brown was hurt on the play and will undergo an MRI exam on Monday after x-rays were negative.

"I was coming down and running across the field and the guy was running at me and he actually cut behind me," said Brown about the play. "I tried to plant and it twisted up a little bit."

The Dolphins scored a pair of early fourth-quarter touchdowns on a one-yard run by Patrick Cobbs and Taylor's 36-yard interception return.

Brady returned to the game after Cassel's only series and threw another TD pass, a 16-yard strike to Welker, but Jesse Chatman scored on a seven-yard run for Miami to account for the final margin.

Game Notes:

Brady threw five touchdown passes last week against Dallas...The Patriots' previous record for points in a quarter was 27, set in the second quarter of a November 18, 1979 game against the Baltimore Colts and matched in the fourth quarter of a November 23, 1980 game -- again against Baltimore...Brown's streak of 100-yard rushing games ended at four, one shy of Ricky Williams' club record...Taylor broke the old record of seven touchdowns by a defensive lineman set by George Martin of the New York Giants...New England safety Rodney Harrison had a sack and became the first player in NFL history with 30 sacks and 30 interceptions...Miami defensive back Renaldo Hill was hurt on Moss' second touchdown grab, appearing to injure his right leg. He needed to be helped off the field.
