A Red Sox Fan who said he spins his hat while watching games is trying to be named People Magazine's "Sexiest Fan Alive."

Chris Piela is competing with fans representing eight other baseball teams to win the honor.

Piela has been leading the balloting, getting over 14,000 votes so far.

He was nominated by his wife, who described him as "amazingly good-looking, extremely fit, a wonderful husband and even more importantly, the best father."

Piela admitted that he is superstitious. "I always spin my hat all the way around when the count is 2-2 and 2 outs. I use my left hand if my team’s pitcher or hitter is a lefty. Right hand if they’re a righty."

He told People that if selected, he will use his "powers for good, not evil."

You can cast your vote on People's Web site. There are still 10 days left in the competition.
