The Walpole Little League team was eliminated Wednesday from the World Series in Williamsport. The team lost to Warner Robins, Ga., by a score of 8-1.

The New England team was never in the game, which resumed Wednesday after it was suspended on Tuesday night by rain.

The Southeast team scored four runs in the second inning to add to the 2-0 lead it had when the game was suspended.

Walpole came back to score a run in the third, but was unable to do more against a tough opponent. Warner Robins scored two more runs in the fourth inning.

Dalton Carriker singled, doubled and hit a three-run homer to lead Warner Robins, which clinched a semifinal berth.

Signs supporting the team could be seen festooning buildings all over the Massachusetts town of 22,000 located about 19 miles south of Boston.

Walpole lost on Sunday 1-0 to Lake Oswego, Ore., but their series will be remembered for Michael Rando's "web gem" catch that gave them the victory Friday over Hamilton, Ohio.
