A beach house recently purchased by golf star Tiger Woods went up in flames Friday morning on Jupiter Island.

Firefighters responded to the home around 8 a.m. Friday after a concerned neighbor called 911 claiming they saw a house on fire, Martin County Fire Chief Jim Loffredo told West Palm Beach TV station WPBF.

Once at the scene, fire officials said they found the house on South Beach Road fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters told WPBF the blaze was extinguished about 20 minutes after their arrival, but that the home was completely gutted by the fire.

Loffredo said firefighters believe the fire may have been sparked by a lightning storm moving through the area early Friday morning.

Woods recently bought several homes on Jupiter Island, and it is believed that he has intentions of creating a larger family complex at the site.

Loffredo said the building, which had hurricane shutters on all of the windows, was a vacation home and that the owners were not present at the time of the fire.

The home was also believed to have been slated for renovation or removal, WPBF reported.
