BOSTON -- The architect of the Patriots' Super Bowl win said Wednesday that he was overwhelmed by the display of affection from the 1.25 million fans who greeted the team's arrival in Boston.
"It was overwhelming. It was just awesome," coach Bill Belichick said. "There were so many people there. They were so enthusiastic. It just seemed like the crowd would never stop, and it didn't. It was a tremendous outpouring of support. It was a great feeling. You can't describe it. It was just a once-in-a-lifetime feeling."Crowds lined the streets of Boston and packed into City Hall Plaza to see the team and the Lombardi Trophy, hoisted by team owner Bob Kraft. Belichick said that the team's amazement in the size of the crowd grew as the parade went along.
"It was tremendous at the beginning, but it just kid of kept growing and growing," Belichick said. "People hanging out of the windows and off the rooftops of buildings, and the crowd was just five, six, seven deep to points where it must have been a hundred deep."It was incredible. It was just awesome, just an awesome feeling."SportsCenter 5's Mike Lynch's entire interview with Belichick can be seen on a special Patriots All Access airing Thursday night at 7 p.m.
