Recovery crews are searching for a man who fell into the water in Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island during the weekend.

The man was with a group of four people who fell into the water Sunday near Narragansett Bay.

"Four people fell off the rocks into the water," said U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Connie Terrell.

By the time the Coast Guard arrived in Narragansett -- at a spot called Hazard Rock -- firefighters had pulled three people out of the water, and taken them back to shore, but Samnang Nou, 25, of Lowell was not found.

"The current was pulling the forth person out too far, and they lost sight of him and couldn't rescue him," Terrell said.

They searched for hours, without success. It is now a recovery mission. The Coast Guard said it is a reminder to everyone on or near the water to be safe, especially with the arrival of Hurricane Earl later this week.

"With the upcoming storms, the waters probably will get a little rougher out, the currents will get stronger, there's more likelihood for riptides, so we just ask that everybody out enjoying the water keep a close eye on it and keep a close eye on what the weather's doing," Terrell said.
