Commitment 2006: Meet Democratic Secretary Of State Candidates

As part of Commitment 2006, NewsCenter 5's Liz Brunner sat down with the Democratic candidates who would like to be the commonwealth's Secretary of State for the next four years.

Sitting Secretary of State Bill Galvin, 55, is seeking his fourth term as Secretary of State. He is a former state representative from Brighton. He is married and the father of one daughter.

Candidate John Bonifaz, of Jamaica Plain, is a newcomer to seeking elected office, although he has had a passion for voting rights for some time. Bonifaz, 40, a constitutional law attorney and a graduate of Brown University and Harvard Law School.

He and his wife are expecting their first child.
