A liaison to Mayor Thomas Menino already charged with distributing Oxycontin has been linked to an alleged arson plot, according to a special agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration.

NewsCenter 5's Jack Harper reported Monday that DEA agent John Doyle reportedly connected John Michael Forbes, 31, to a plot to possibly burn down the home of a government witness.

Doyle made the allegation during a hearing for co-defendant Lawrence Taylor, who was indicted for allegedly dealing drugs.

Forbes is not charged with arson. In court, prosecutor Jeffrey Cohn said Forbes was "clearly leading two different lives. The underside was drug dealing."

Doyle also testified that Forbes is heard on tape selling $50,000 worth of Oxycontin to a government witness in his East Boston home.

The government also claims Forbes is on tape in his City Hall office promising the government witness a city job, even though he knew he was a drug user.

While the family wasn't talking, his attorney told the court Forbes' wife is already in drug treatment, adding "unfortunately he became a victim of Oxycontin."
