CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- State Sen. Anthony Galluccio was “totally drunk” hours before he was involved in a hit-and-run crash, according to a newly released police report.Galluccio, who was given a ride home by Cambridge police in the early morning hours of Oct. 4, had walked into the Basha Cafe after the restaurant’s 2 a.m. closing time but was not served alcohol, according to the report. However, police were told by the manager that Galluccio was “totally drunk.”A manager at the café offered to give Gallucio a ride home, but was unable to find the senator's house and returned to a gas station near the restaurant. "While trying to locate his house, Mr. Galluccio kept falling asleep and they were unable to find his residence,” the report read.Police eventually drove Gallucio home. “Both officers reported that they believed Mr. Galluccio was pretty drunk,” according to the report. Galluccio told reporters after a brief appearance on Friday in Medford District Court that he plans to focus on personal issues in his life."I will be taking time to confront a number of personal issues. As I have stated before, there is no excuse for my actions and I deeply regret them," Galluccio said in a statement.Gallucio appeared in court on charges connected to the Oct. 4 hit-and-run crash in Cambridge in which one person was slightly injured. Galluccio declined comment on the case, though he previously said he made a "serious error in judgment" when he drove away after his SUV rear-ended another vehicle. A handful of protesters stood outside the court on Friday, with signs urging no "special favors" or "free passes" for Galluccio.
