The League of Women voters is holding a forum with the candidates vying to succeed Sen. Edward Kennedy.

All of the Democratic and Republican candidates were scheduled to appear Sunday at UMass-Amherst except for the front-runner, Attorney General Martha Coakley.

The League has planned a second forum in January, before the Jan. 19 special election and after the field is narrowed through the Dec. 8 party primaries.

Kennedy died Aug. 25 of brain cancer.

Besides Coakley, the Democrats running to succeed him include Rep. Michael Capuano, City Year co-founder Alan Khazei and Boston Celtics co-owner Stephen Pagliuca.

State Sen. Scott Brown and Duxbury attorney Jack E. Robinson are seeking the GOP nomination.
