Former GOP presidential candidate and Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney recently told a radio station that he is not planning be a part of the Republican ticket with John McCain.

"I think there's some great people (McCain) could choose from and I expect he will do that. But I don't plan on being part of the ticket," Romney told 850KOA in Denver.

But Romney added that if asked to be McCain's vice president, he hinted that he would accept.

"I think any Republican who was offered the chance to be VP would certainly serve their party and serve our nominee and do so proudly," Romney said.

Other names that have been rumored to be the top of McCain's list include Gov. Tim Pawlenty, of Minnesota; former Ohio Rep. Rob Portman; and former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge.
