Which presidential candidate "has the personality and leadership qualities a president should have?"

That's what a new Gallup poll asked, and respondents gave Hillary Clinton a slight edge over all other presidential candidates.

However, when it came to party breakdown, Gallup found that Clinton's positive results came mostly from Democrats, while Rudy Giuliani and Barack drew positive results from both Democrats and Republicans.

The top six candidates in the poll scored as follows:

  • Hillary Clinton (D): 60 percent
  • Rudy Giuliani (R): 59 percent
  • Barack Obama (D): 56 percent
  • John Edwards (D): 51 percent
  • Mitt Romney (R): 32 percent
  • Fred Thompson (R): 27 percent
  • A Gallup poll asked that question recently and found that most respondents gave Hillary Clinton the top score.

The are based on Nov. 2-4, 2007, telephone interviews with 1,024 adults across the country aged 18 and older. Gallup said the maximum margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
