San Jose, CA -- (Sports Network) - Corey Perry scored the lone goal of the shootout as Anaheim edged San Jose, 2-1, at HP Pavilion.Perry, the second skater for the Ducks, started out wide right of the net, swept back in front, turned the blade of his stick underneath the puck and lifted it over a sprawling Evgeni Nabokov. Jean-Sebastien Giguere proved infallible at the other end, denying Devin Setoguchi, Patrick Marleau and Joe Pavelski to seal the victory for Anaheim. "Yeah, it was a good effort," said Giguere. "We've been winning a few games lately, but we were not happy with the way we were playing. All we were looking for was a 60- minute effort -- or 65, in this case. I think we did that. Chris Kunitz had the lone tally in regulation, while Giguere made 28 saves for the Ducks, who have won four straight games overall. "I don't know if you can say we're finding our groove, we've won four in a row but three of them are in shootouts," said Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle. "We're not going to get too high on what we've accomplished. We've sure had our fair share of struggles early in the season and for whatever the reason but we're starting to get a understanding of how we have to play and our hockey club has to play a strong forechecking game and be physical in order for us to be effective." Torrey Mitchell lit the lamp and Nabokov finished with 28 saves for the Sharks, who had a four-game win streak halted, with their last loss coming in a shootout in Anaheim on November 9. Anaheim opened the scoring when Kunitz tipped in a shot from the blue line with 4:36 remaining in the first period. Ryan Getzlaf got things moving when he carried the puck around the back of the Sharks' net and sent a pass to Francois Beauchemin at the point. Beauchemin took the shot, and Kunitz used his stick to re-direct the puck past Nabokov. The Ducks also had a pair of power-play opportunities in the stanza, but San Jose was able to kill off both, including the last 1:18 before the period ended. The Sharks also held an 11-8 advantage in shots on goal, but trailed heading to the second. Nabokov and Giguere then put on a goaltending clinic in the middle session, combining to turn aside 16 shots. Giguere was tested just five times, while Anaheim turned up the heat on Nabokov with 11 shots on net. Mitchell was credited with the equalizer 7:03 into the third. The Sharks won the draw in the left circle and Sandis Ozolinsh immediately sent a slap shot on net that was tipped through the five-hole by Mitchell to make it a 1-1 game. Game Notes The Ducks have won their last four games in San Jose...Getzlaf assisted on the goal by Kunitz, and has 11 points in his last seven games (four goals, seven assists).
