Oilers re-sign Ryan Smyth

The Edmonton Oilers re-signed forward Ryan Smyth to a two-year contract Wednesday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 29-year-old Smyth has spent his entire NHL career with the Oilers and has posted 198 goals and 232 assists in 642 career games. He played all 82 games during the 2003-04 season and registered 23 goals and 36 assists.

The Banff, Alberta native was a member of the Canadian team that won the gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. Smyth was drafted sixth overall by Edmonton in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
