Blackhawks C Bolland Has Back Surgery

(Sports Network) - Chicago Blackhawks center Dave Bolland underwent successful back surgery Tuesday to repair a herniated disk.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Richard Fessler under the supervision of team trainer Dr. Michael Terry, and Bolland is expected to be out for 12-to-16 weeks. The doctors anticipated a full recovery.

Bolland, who signed a five-year contract this past offseason, has four assists and six points in 13 games this season. The 32nd overall pick by Chicago in 2004, Bolland has 70 points in 134 career regular season games with the Blackhawks.
