Redskins Release OT Jansen After 10 Seasons With Club

POSTED: 2:37 pm EDT May 29, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Washington Redskins on Friday released offensive tackle Jon Jansen, who was the longest tenured player on the team.

Jansen, 33, was about to enter his 11th season with the Redskins after the club drafted him in the second round of the 1999 NFL Draft. He had served as the primary starter at right tackle since entering the league, appearing in 126 games -- including 123 starts.

The Michigan product played in 14 games, 11 starts, for the Redskins last season after an ankle injury cost him all but one game in 2007. From 1999-2005, he played in all 16 games in every season, except for 2004, when he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury.
