(Sports Network) - The Atlanta Falcons signed free agent linebacker Tony Gilbert and tight end Justin Peelle Monday.

Terms of the signings were not released.

The six-foot, 248-pound Gilbert spent the past five seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars and was coached by then defensive coordinator Mike Smith, now the Falcons head coach. In 56 career games, Gilbert has totaled 23 tackles, one sack and one fumble recovery.

Peelle was a member of the Miami Dolphins for the last two seasons and was coached by Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey who served as Miami's tight ends coach in 2007. In 93 career games, he has totaled 85 receptions for 614 yards and seven touchdowns. Last season, he set career highs in receptions (29), yards (228) and tied a career mark with two touchdowns.

To make room on the roster, the Falcons released linebacker Tony Taylor and tight end Jason Rader. Atlanta also signed defensive end Sean Conover and running back Kenneth Darby to round out the practice squad.
