Ed Harding is co-anchor for the NewsCenter 5 early evening and late newscasts. Previously, he co-anchored the EyeOpener and NewsCenter 5 at 11 p.m. Harding joined the EyeOpener team in 2000 and added his duties at 11 p.m. in 2004. Prior to joining the EyeOpener, he had been the weekend sports anchor and reporter for Channel 5 since 1988.

Before joining WCVB-TV, Harding was sports director and principal sports anchor for WISH-TV, the CBS affiliate in Indianapolis. At WISH, he anchored and produced the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. sportscasts, co-produced and reported the station’s annual “Indy 500” special, and was producer and host of The Colts Today, the NFL Indianapolis Colts coach’s show. For three years, he provided live reports and color commentary for Colts games on WIBC Radio.

While in the midwest, Harding won two Indiana Associated Press awards and was named Best TV Sportscaster by Indianapolis Magazine.

Prior to joining WISH, Harding was sports director and anchor for WDSU-TV in New Orleans from 1978 to 1981. He served one year in Minneapolis as assistant sports director and weekend anchor for KMSP-TV. From 1975 to 1977, Harding was sports director and anchor for WPTZ-TV in Plattsburgh, NY.

A native of the Boston suburb of Newton, Harding graduated from Emerson College in Boston. He lives in Wellesley with his wife and two children.
