David Brown

David Brown is the co-anchor of the top-rated EyeOpener newscast. He was named to the position in March of 2007. Brown is also WCVB's Environmental Reporter and the main contributor to the "Going Green" section on TheBostonChannel.com.

Previously, he served as fill-in news anchor and meteorologist of NewsCenter 5's weekend 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts. Brown joined WCVB-TV in September 1995 and was the meteorologist for the weekday EyeOpener and Midday newscasts for nine years.

Prior to joining Channel 5, Brown had been the weekend meteorologist at WCVB-TV sister station WISN-TV in Milwaukee since 1993. Both stations are part of the Hearst-Argyle Television group and are ABC affiliates.

Previously, Brown served for five years as chief meteorologist at KTXL-TV in Sacramento. Before that, he was the chief meteorologist for a station in Chico, Calif. Brown began his forecasting career as a weekend weathercaster and reporter in Terre Haute, Ind.

After pursuing post-graduate work at Mississippi State University, Brown was awarded the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval in recognition of his professionalism in weather forecasting and reporting.

Deeply immersed in the community, Brown dedicates much of his free time to support local charities. He is involved with AIDS Action and serves as the Host and emcee of the annual Boston AIDS Walk. Brown was recently awarded their community service award for continued involvement in many of the organization's community based services. He is also active with the Ellie Fund and Project Place, a Boston organization dedicated to homelessness. Brown is a key participant in WCVB's annual Jerry Lewis Telethon to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). A familiar figure at schools across the region, Brown teaches thousands of school children during his many visits throughout the year.

Brown earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Indiana University. A resident of the Boston area, Brown enjoys spending time with his two young children. In his spare time, he enjoys running and is a proud finisher of the 110th Boston Marathon. Brown ran as part of a team raising money for Boston Medical Center.
