Communities Offer A Range Of Events To Mark Anniversary
The following is a list of September 11, 2002 events as they have been submitted to WCVB. If you have questions about any of the events, please call the contact numbers listed with the event.
AMESBURY, MASS.
WHAT: Evening candlelight ceremony to mark the first anniversary of the attack on America of September 11, 2001.
Debora Hayes and her two small children have accepted an invitation from Mayor David T. Hildt to attend the memorial service. Debora's husband, Robert Hayes, perished when Flight 11 crashed into the World Trade Center.
Individual We Remember Candles are available for a requested donation of $2.00. They are available at all local Amesbury churches, Amesbury Police Department, Amesbury Fire Department and at many local businesses. People are requested to bring their We Remember Candle to the ceremony. We Remember Candles will also be available that evening at Landry Stadium prior to the service. Candle profits will be donated to the Hayes family.

WHAT: Memorial and Celebration of Life Service hosted by the city of Boston and U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy. At the conclusion of the service, houses of worship and firehouses throughout the city will toll bells as tributes to the victims of Sept. 11 and their families.

WHEN: Sept. 11, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. (noon)
WHAT: JFK Library Memorial Concert
The John F. Kennedy Library will host the Boston Landmarks Orchestra and the Kuumba Singers of Harvard University performing at a free, memorial concert. Reservations are required and seating will be first-come, first-served with overflow seating at the library's theaters.
Ten large panels of the "United In Memory: Sept. 11 Victims Memorial Quilt" will be exhibited at the library from Sept. 11 through Sept. 30. The quilt is a global volunteer undertaking to honor the vitims. When completed it will include more than 3,000 squares.

WHERE: J.F.K. Library and Museum, Columbia Point (next to the UMASS Boston Campus, Boston. Library will offer free admission and extended hours from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 11.

WHAT:Comedy Connection Benefitting the Massachusetts 9/11 Fund

WHAT:Trinity Church Services
Throughout the day Trinity Church and other sites in Copley Square will create a setting for those who wish to come together in remembrance of September 11, 2001. A participatory ribbon signing and a banner of hope signing will be available for written messages.
WHERE: Trinity Church, Copley Plaza, Boston
WHEN: At noon, all are invited to an ecumenical service celebrated inside Trinity Church as well as an interfaith worship service at 5:30 p.m. At 9:30 p.m. a silent candlelight vigil will take place in Copley Square.

WHAT: Lecture and photographic presentation by Boston native photographer Eugene Richards and writer Janine Altongy.
"Stepping Through the Ashes" is a special "Eye of the Beholder" lecture and presents photographic images and personal accounts inspired by the Sept. 11 tragedy.

WHAT: Tri-Ad Veteran's League Memorial Service. There will be prayer, spiritual music and liturgical dance to honor those who perished, their families and the men and women who worked to locate those trapped in the wreckage.

WHAT: Boston University Day of Remembrance
Starting at 8:30 a.m. a chime will be sounded at Marsh Plaza and will be struck regularly every few minutes for the next 1.5 hours. There will also be Jewish (Orthodox), Islamic, and Hindu prayer services, a multi-denominational service and a Catholic Mass. All events are FREE and open to the public.

WHAT: Sept. 11 Memorial Tribute
WHERE: School Administration Building, Whiting Ave., proceeding to Endicott Estate on East Street in Dedham where formal events will take place.
WHEN: Reading of victim's names will begin at 3 p.m. at Endicott Estate. Tribute will begin at 6:30 p.m. at school administration building.
EVERETT, MASS.
WHAT: Interfaith Service Everett, Mass.
WHERE: Immaculate Conception Church, Glendale Park, corner of Elm and Ferry Streets.
WHEN: Sept. 11. Church service begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by awards presentation at the park from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in honor of Hometown Heroes: Police, fire and EMT personnel. (In case of rain, ceremony will be at Everett High School, Rockwood Auditorium). Candlelight ceremony at Glendale Park will include a planting of "Tree of Life" in honor of James and Mary Trentini, who died in the Sept. 11 attacks.
FRAMINGHAM, MASS
WHAT: Sept. 11 Remembrance Exhibit
The Framingham Historical Society and Museum will observe September 11 with remembrance and hope by creating a special collection of remembrances of the world-changing events of that day by accepting items such as poems, photographs, journal entries.

WHAT: North Shore Arts Association Exhibit "Sept. 11 Inspired Images"
The NSAA artists have brought together a show of works which include pieces of twisted steel from the World Trade Center., historic works, and many artistic works that carry the theme of Remembrance and Family.
